This weekend we went to Intag Valley. On the way there, the driver told me the story of the three volcanoes that surround our village.
The one that looks like Vesuvius, Imbabura, apparently is the dad. He married Cotacachi and they had a baby, Yanaurku – the foothill on the right of Cotacachi. For my project I’m studying volcanoes, and I calculated that Imbabura is 15,273 feet tall. When we got to Intag Valley, we relaxed for a bit. Some of us went to the sugarcane valley. Then, we went to the hot springs, the pools are supplied by hot water from the mountains. After an amazing dinner back at the hostel, we went to bed. In the morning, we ate breakfast and then went to meet Pepe, local coffee-farmer who climbed Mount Everest. We toured his coffee farm and sampled the coffee. Everyone thought it was amazing! We returned to the hostel and had an amazing lunch. Then, we headed home, refreshed and ready to continue our work around the village.
