Meet the Leaders

FEDORA COPLEY
Reed College, B.A., Spanish

While at Reed College, Fedora studied indigenous hip-hop in Ecuador and Bolivia as a form of decolonization. After graduation, she worked at a shelter for asylum-seekers in El Paso, Texas. Fedora then worked with Americorps as a Family Engagement Coordinator at a dual-immersion Spanish/English public school. She helped launch a Family Leadership Team for underrepresented parents to become involved in policy decisions at the school. Now, Fedora is a Bilingual Educational Assistant at a public high school supporting English learners in core classes. Fedora is fluent in Spanish and studies French and Akateko. This fall, Fedora will continue to support English-learning high school students in Portland, Oregon. She has led a high school trip to Ecuador and also Putney’s Community Service Costa Rica program.

DANIEL EDEN
University of California, Santa Cruz, B.A., Anthropology

After graduating high school, Daniel spent a year traveling and volunteering in Central America and the Dominican Republic with a gap year program. While at UC Santa Cruz, he studied anthropology with an emphasis on cultural and international aspects. He traveled to Peru for a month for a language study program and received his A.A. in Spanish. During his studies, he also traveled to Southeast Asia for five months and explored Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Laos. After graduating, Daniel bought a one-way ticket to South America, where he traveled to Chile, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, and Colombia. During these 11 months, he worked with wild monkeys and cats at an animal refuge, volunteered at various farms, helped build a hostel, and explored the natural landscape from Patagonia to the Caribbean. Since then he has traveled to Ecuador and the Galápagos. He enjoys the outdoors, music, exploring different cultures, and working with youth. He has also worked as a youth sports instructor at an after school program. Daniel now practices massage therapy and manages a restaurant. He is fluent in Spanish.
